About the Author

Hello and welcome to my ABOUT page. I have readers of all ages, but FINNICKY looks at life through ‘senior’ eyes. I enjoy connecting with my peers, the Baby Boomers in ways that only those of us who have crossed the threshold into seniorhood can understand. I also write for a syndication that specializes in senior publications. FINNICKY began as a website to promote my book, Walking With My Foot In My Mouth and grew into a weekly blog.

Occasionally someone will ask me why I have the same name as ‘Miss Pat’ who wrote and performed the Sarasota TV show Miss Pat’s Kitty Cat Storytime Show in the 1990’s. I don’t know. It is strange. She was on PBS’s Read to Me as well. It is true I wrote Little Lion’s Bedtime and Miguel Goes to School but other than the fact that I rhyme all the time, I don’t see a connection. In 2020 during Covid, Kingdom Cats was penned to celebrate (that's right - celebrate) twelve months of isolation with my beloved cats Simon and Brina. I am happy to be both an Amazon Author and a Goodreads Author and strongly suggest that if you have not purchased Walking With My Foot In My Mouth you rush to order it using the Shop icon at the top of the page.

Hosting workshops ranks high on my 'I love to do this' list. Add-a-Smile is my workshop for writers, and I was honored to host a workshop for parents and educators at the National Center for Family Literacy's Annual Convention. I have a Florida Department of Children and Families Director’s Credential and a License to Minister with United Christian Church. Proving that you are never too old to do homework, at the age of sixty-one I earned a Human Services degree from Southeastern University.

On the personal side, when I am not spoiling my cats and enjoying my grandchildren, I am spoiling my grandchildren and enjoying my cats. I hang out in coffee shops and relax with hand embroidery. I recently cleaned my son’s car and I have decided that auto detailing balances well with hand embroidery, and I will add that to my list of senior activities. As for sports, I love nature and I love to be outside. Is sitting in the backyard a sport?
